This week, the PGA Tour travels to San Antonio, Texas, for the 2023 Valero Texas Open. A quality field of talented golfers will compete to hoist the winner’s trophy on Sunday afternoon. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my fantasy golf/DFS selections for the 2023 Valero Texas Open!

Aaron Rai

Aaron Rai fired a third-round 65 at the 2023 Players Championship en route to an eventual 19th-place finish three weeks ago.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Valero Texas Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Aaron Rai ranks third in strokes gained ball striking, second in GIR (greens in regulation), and second in strokes gained tee to green.

Aaron Rai finished 29th at the 2022 Valero Texas Open. Having stated that, I think Rai posts a much better finish at this year’s Valero Texas Open.

Nick Taylor

Two weeks ago, Nick Taylor posted a third-round 69 at the 2023 Valspar Championship on his way to a tenth-place result.

Due to the fact that Taylor played so well at the 2023 Valspar Championship, I decided to take a hard look at Taylor’s player statistics for the event relative to the field.

After four rounds of competitive golf played at the 2023 Valspar Championship, relative to the field, Nick Taylor ranked seventh in GIR (greens in regulation-63.9%), eighth in strokes gained tee to green (6.310), and ninth in strokes gained approach (4.135).

Nicolai Hojgaard

Nicolai Hojgaard has accumulated two top-five finishes in his last three tournaments played (PGA and DP World Tours combined), including an impressive second-place result at last week’s 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship.

David Lingmerth

David Lingmerth has accumulated two top-ten finishes in his four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive sixth-place result at the 2023 Players Championship.
