2023 Wells Fargo Championship: Purse and Payouts by Position
Breaking down this week’s 2023 Wells Fargo Championship Purse, Winnings, and Payouts by position at Quail Hollow.
Following a brief two-week hiatus, the run of PGA designated events resumed with this week’s 2023 Wells Fargo Championship at the famed Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
One of a number of events on this season’s schedule to have received ‘elevated’ status; the Wells Fargo became the seventh tournament outside of the Players Championship and Masters to have been upgraded this year already.
As was the case with the other designated events, most recently the RBC Heritage, this weekend’s elite field competed for a share of a handsome 20 million dollar purse with the winner taking home an eye-opening 3.6 million dollars.
Much like its predecessors, the newly elevated Wells Fargo is perfectly primed to deliver another enthralling conclusion. Wyndham Clark took control at the top on Saturday following a sensational bogey-free round of 63 during which he hit an astonishing 17 of 18 greens in regulation.
Clark’s fantastic showing on Saturday ensured that the 29-year-old, who is searching for his first PGA Tour win, created some distance between himself and the rest of the field heading into Sunday’s final round at Quail Hollow.
Xander Schauffele is best positioned to pose the biggest threat to Clark on Sunday with the seven-time PGA Tour winner just two shots adrift of Clark’s (-16) lead. The next closest competition looking to thwart Wyndham Clark’s quest for a first win comes in the form of a handful of players sitting at 11 and 10-under.
The group includes Tyrrell Hatton and Adam Scott (-11); and Sungjae Im, Tommy Fleetwood, and Harris English, all of whom find themselves six shots back at 10-under.
Those who finish near the top of the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship leaderboard will each earn a staggering amount of money. Here is the complete breakdown of this week’s 20 million dollar purse by finishing position.
