8) Beau Hossler

Hossler is an example of a guy who simply can't miss right now. It was heartbreak for the Texas Longhorn at the Sanderson Farms Championship which he lost in a playoff to Kevin Yu. But to follow that up with a T11 last week is telling of his resilience.

And it was not your run-of-the-mill T11. In last week's preview, I mentioned that Hossler was volatile with the putter. That held true as he finished 59th in strokes gained on the greens. There does not seem to be a middle ground with his putter, but that bodes well for his upside especially in a 'birdie-fest' this week.

It's been a long eight years for Hossler. Is this finally the week?

7) Cam Davis

Snubbing Davis from the Presidents Cup was just the start of captain Mike Weir's laundry list of poor decisions in Montreal.

The Aussie comes into Las Vegas determined and in form, riding a summer surge in which he captured his second career victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.

Davis profiles as a player who would perform best on longer courses, but for whatever reason, he has an affinity for tracks that reward accuracy off the tee. His only two wins have both come at Detroit Golf Club -- one of the shorter courses on Tour.

The course fit this week is, consequently, favorable. Five-for-five in made cuts capped off by a T7 last year demonstrates that.
