Scottie Scheffler certainly didn't have his best stuff during the final round of the 2025 PGA Championship. But he had enough to capture the third major of his career, happily hoisting the Wanamaker Trophy after Jon Rahm, who actually caught the world No. 1 at one point, collapsed down the stretch at Quail Hollow Club.

Holding a three-shot advantage heading into Sunday, the world No. 1 quickly dropped a shot with a bogey at the opening hole, as did just about everyone else in the later groups, but bounced back beautifully with a birdie at the second.

But that was the only circle the two-time Masters champ carded on the front nine. And not only did he let a few players back in the mix with bogeys on Nos. 6 and 9, he found himself tied at the turn at 9-under with Rahm, who began the day five shots back but vaulted up the leaderboard with birdies at Nos. 8, 10, and 11.

Scheffler regained the lead with a birdie of his own at the par-5 10th and added another at the short par-4 14th.

At about that same time, Rahm, playing two groups ahead, watched his hopes of adding a third leg of the career Grand Slam go up in smoke as he was eaten alive at Quail Hollow's famed "Green Mile.

Following a bogey at the 16th after finding the left rough off the tee and a greenside bunker with his approach, the Spaniard found the drink with his tee shot on the par-3 17th, leading to a double bogey, and again got wet off the tee at the par-4 18th, leading to a second straight double.

When all was said and done, Rahm fell all the way back into a tie for eighth at 4-under.

Scheffler, meanwhile, carded a third birdie on the back with a four at the par-5 15th and cruised from there. After pars at 16 and 17, he bogeyed the 18th but still walked away with a five-shot victory over Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, and Davis Riley, all of whom tied for second at 6-under.

2025 PGA Championship payouts for every player

With the win, Scheffler collected the $3.42 million winner's share of the $19 million total purse, both of which are the largest in PGA Championship history.

The total purse bumped up by $500,000 from a year ago at Valhalla, where Xander Schauffele earned $3.33 million for his first major championship victory.
