It may surprise some to know that the RBC Canadian Open, which was first played in 1904, is the third-oldest continuously running tournament on the PGA Tour calendar, trailing only The Open Championship and the U.S. Open.

But despite the storied history of Canada's national championship, this year's edition will feature a venue never before seen on the PGA Tour (at least not the top-tier version), namely the North Course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

If this sounds familiar, it's precisely what happened two years ago when the tourney was contested at nearby Oakdale Golf & Country Club, which was hosting for the first time and will do so again in 2026.

And we all know how wild that week was with Winnipeg native Nick Taylor draining a 72-foot eagle putt to defeat Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff. So, let's hope we can get some of that same excitement this week at TPC Toronto.

This week's event, of course, is the last stop before the U.S. Open, which naturally means that many in the field are getting their final tournament reps in before heading to Oakmont, a list that includes Rory McIlroy, who's set for his first appearance since tying for 47th at the PGA Championship.

McIlroy is a two-time winner of the RBC Canadian Open, winning at Hamilton in 2019 and St. George's in 2022, and comes into the week as the heavy betting favorite at +450.

Sitting in distant second at +1400 is Ludvig Åberg, who's had an up-and-down season but found a little something at the Memorial Tournament this past Sunday, shooting 66 to get himself into a tie for 16th.

Corey Conners is the first Canadian on the board in the No. 3 slot at +2000, with Shane Lowry sitting in fourth at +2200. Defending champion Robert MacIntyre is one of three tied in the fifth position at +2800, a trio that also includes Sam Burns and Ontario native Taylor Pendrith.

Pendrith is one of a few players in the field with actual tournament experience at TPC Toronto, having played the North Course in both 2018 and 2019 at the Osprey Valley Open on what was then known as PGA Tour Canada, missing the cut in his first go-round and taking solo second a year later.
