On the betting front, we are coming off a great week at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Mackenzie Hughes had a phenomenal 64 on Sunday to finish inside the top 10 to cash our +225. Patton Kizzire also finished inside the top 40 with ease, meaning we went .500 but profited nonetheless. But we are not here to brag about what we did last week, but to focus on the present and future. The future is the Black Desert Championship, which features some pretty solid talent.

The Course - Black Desert Resort - Utah, USA

Heading to the "desert" in Utah for this event, which is a brand new event on the FedEx Cup schedule. Not only is it a brand new event, but it feels like a brand new state on the schedule, as they have not been to Utah since long before I was thought of. So capping an event like this won't be easy, without being able to look at previous results at this course. That being said, being able to rely on recent tournament form, as well as diving into player's statistics can be very helpful. Additionally, looking at the general course layout on their website can show where scoring can be had. So what can we expect from this 7371 yard, Par 71 layout?

The opening hole will be an interesting one to watch, as a nearly 500-yard opening Par 4. The Par 5's will require a great long iron to make birdies and eagles and with only three of them on the card, Par 5 scoring is once again at a premium. One statistic I also think is worth a look at is players who are great with their short-to-medium length irons (between 150-200 yards). With two short par 3's + plenty of 400-475 Par 4's, those are the sorts of clubs players will be hitting plenty of into greens. Also, some familiarity playing amongst the mountains/desert type courses is a huge asset as well. So who are we backing with our sheckles this week?

Black Desert Championship Picks For Winner, Top 10 & Top 20

Winner Pick For The Black Desert Championship (0.1 Units): Seamus Power (+2250)

Taking a guy who had a great week last week at the Sanderson Farm's event in Seamus Power here. T11 last week, but what I liked was that he played four really solid rounds of golf. If a couple more putts on the weekend fell he could have challenged for the title, so I like him here. Seamus played the Par 5's in -8 last week, but what I like more is his Par 3 scoring was a -4 for the week. I think the Par 4's for this week set up well for his game as well as an accurate driver off the tee, so give me Power to pick up the victory.

Top 10 Pick For The Black Desert Championship (0.4 Units): Beau Hossler (+300)

If we are talking about four great rounds of golf last week Beau Hossler fits that to a tee (pun intended). Now, so long as he isn't trying to scrap with a rules official when he's in trouble, I like him to finish strongly once again. What Beau brings to the table is plenty of greens in regulation and plenty of strokes gained putting as well. With seven top-25 finishes this season, plus riding the high of last week, I think he will be in contention on Sunday once again. A final point to consider is Hossler is great out of the sand and there will be plenty of it on this Utah track.

Top 20 Pick For The Black Desert Championship (0.5 Units): Zac Blair (+300)

Rolling with a Utah local here for a half unit to have a nice showing on tour. Zac Blair, born in Salt Lake City, attended BYU in college and now resides in St. George, Utah, which is just 15 minutes from Black Desert. Now, outside of home cooking, we also like how Blair has been playing on tour. He is 26th in driving accuracy to go along with 45th in scrambling. He may have missed the cut at the Sanderson Farms, but he was still -4 over the two days. Those are still two fine rounds of golf, so do not hold that against him too much. His T13 at the Procore event prior gives me a ton of hope and Blair's value is tremendous at 3/1 for just a top 20.

Top 20 Pick For The Black Desert Championship (0.5 Units): Daniel Berger (+200)

Two years ago, Daniel Berger was fighting for Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup spots before injuries derailed his career for a bit. Now, fully healthy, Berger appears to be turning the corner once again with his game. A seventh-place finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship was not only his best finish in a long time but also his first top-25 finish since the US Open. Berger shot 67 or better in three of his four rounds last week, making plenty of birdies. I think putting down a half-unit for a player of his caliber is smart bankroll management. And to get 2/1 odds on my "best player in the field when healthy" is a must-play.
