Bryson DeChambeau's LIV Golf Korea win was better than Scottie Scheffler's in Texas

Scottie Scheffler's eight-shot win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson wasn't the most impressive performance of the weekend.

Scottie Scheffler decimated the field at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson to score his first win of the 2025 season. With a record-tying final score of 253 strokes at 31-under, the world No. 1 made TPC Craig Ranch look like your local pitch-and-putt course.

As impressive as Scheffler's win was, though, it wasn't the best performance we saw this weekend.

Over in LIV Golf, Bryson DeChambeau shot 19-under in three rounds at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Korea, also picking up his first win of the year. The big-hitting American won by two strokes over Crushers GC teammate Charles Howell III, but it was much more stressful than the final leaderboard indicated.

DeChambeau entered the final round of LIV Golf Korea with a four-shot lead over the next-closest player, but his cushion dwindled to one after an even-par 36 on the front nine, making the round suddenly feel eerily similar to DeChambeau's last three competitive Sundays.

A month ago, the 31-year-old entered the final round of LIV Golf Miami with a two-stroke lead. Then, he grabbed the solo lead on Masters Sunday with 16 holes to play. Two weeks later, he went into the final round at LIV Golf Mexico City with a one-shot cushion. He failed to win all three tournaments.

DeChambeau's recent final-round flops must've entered his head as he sauntered to the 10th tee on Sunday. Only this time, he didn't succumb to the pressure.

Bryson DeChambeau stomped his final-round demons to score first win of 2025

DeChambeau kicked his round into gear with a birdie on the par-4 10th. Two more birdies on the 12th and 13th and another at the 15th gave him some room to breathe, but Howell wasn't going away.

With the tournament still up for grabs, Bryson drilled a 48-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th hole and gave himself a tap-in birdie on the par-5 finisher, thus capping off a 6-under 30 on the back nine to win by two.

Not only did DeChambeau conquer his final-round demons with a flawless back nine to pick up his first win of the season, but he did so while dominating some of the top players in the world. He beat Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith by 11 shots, Brooks Koepka by 13, and Joaquín Niemann by 15.

Scheffler can't say the same.

At the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Scheffler was a +280 favorite due to the lack of overall talent in the field. Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Ludvig Ã…berg, and others took the week off, so the next-closest player on the odds board was Jordan Spieth at 18/1.

Sungjae Im was the only other player in the field ranked in the top 20 in the Official World Golf Ranking, so a Scheffler win seemed inevitable before a single ball touched the grass at TPC Craig Ranch.

Either way, this is setting up for an exhilarating week at the PGA Championship.

Scheffler and DeChambeau are playing fantastic golf and coming off impressive victories. McIlroy is having a dominant season and already has four career wins at Quail Hollow Club. Thomas and Spieth are starting to heat up. And Ã…berg, Morikawa, Rahm, and Xander Schauffele are tough to beat when they have their A-games.

Buckle your seatbelts, folks. This is gonna be fun.
