Port Royal GC in Southampton, Bermuda, played host to the penultimate event on the 2024 FedEx Cup Fall schedule as the PGA Tour made its third consecutive stop outside of the U.S. following trips to Japan and Mexico over the last month. With the 2024 schedule drawing to a close, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship presented one of the final opportunities for players to earn invaluable FedEx Cup points before the new season begins in January 2025.

In its sixth edition after debuting on the PGA Tour schedule in 2019, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship saw winds wreak havoc on this year's field in Southampton, Bermuda. The rough conditions, however, weren't enough to prevent Wesley Bryan from tying the course record at Port Royal on Moving Day of this year's championship. Bryan, who opened with rounds of 67 and 72, produced a breathtaking 10-under 61 to tie the course record during the third round of this year's Butterfield Bermuda Championship. After soaring back into contention following his record-equaling round, Bryan would attempt to win for the second time in his PGA Tour career following his breakthrough win on tour back in 2017 at the RBC Heritage.

Two others searching for their first PGA Tour wins would take a slim lead over Wesley Bryan into the final round. After turning professional in 2017 and joining the tour in 2022, 29-year-old Andrew Novak would take a share of the 54-hole lead into the final round looking to close the deal on his first win on tour. Both Novak and Rafael Campos, another player who was looking to notch that breakthrough win on the PGA Tour, were well-positioned going into the final round with both looking to hold off Wesley Bryan and the rest of the chasing pack en route to a first career victory.

Whether it was Novak, Campos, Bryan, or any other member of the chasing pack in hot pursuit, whoever emerged victorious would secure a handsome winner's share of this year's prize purse in Bermuda. But exactly how much was on the line at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in 2024? Let's take a look at the total purse, winner's share, and complete prize payout distribution by position for this year's championship at Port Royal.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship purse 2024: Total purse and winner's prize money

The purse for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in 2024 is set at $6.9 million with this year's champion at Port Royal GC set to take home a winner's share of $1.242 million; the PGA Tour standard 18% of the overall prize purse. While not boasting the largest prize purse amongst events this FedEx Cup Fall, the 2024 Butterfield Bermuda Championship can lay claim to being the only event this fall to increase its total prize purse, with every other event apart from the recent ZOZO Championship opting to decrease their prize totals from the previous year. An increase from the $6.5 million that was divvied out to the field at last year's Butterfield Bermuda Championship, this year's purse ranks near the lower end amongst prize purses handed out this fall on the PGA Tour, with only the Procore Championship in September awarding a smaller total purse to its field this fall.

Understandably, the prize offerings up for grabs in these fall events significantly pale in comparison to the enormous figures that were divvied out at major and signature events earlier this year, still, each of the top 18 finishers at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship will earn six-figure paydays for their efforts at Port Royal GC in 2024. Meanwhile, the top 9 finishers at this year's championship will all earn over $200k in prize money with this year's champion taking home the $1.242 million prize.

Of course, in addition to a substantial winner's share of this year's prize purse and all of the other perks that come with winning an event on the PGA Tour, perhaps even more valuable at this time of year are the 500 FedEx Cup points the winner will collect. With one event remaining on this season's FedEx Cup Fall calendar, it's now or never for those players fighting for Tour cards and signature event places next season. The FedEx Cup Fall concludes next week at the RSM Classic.
