At long last, the 156-player field for the 2025 U.S. Open has been finalized, and we could be in for quite the week at historic Oakmont Country Club, which is set to host America's national championship for the 10th time, thus extending its record over Baltusrol by three.

Oakmont has always played difficult, as evidenced by the fact that none of the previous nine winners on the southwest Pennsylvania track finished better than 5-under. And with a complete renovation taking place a couple of years back, Oakmont, with its narrow fairways, five-inch rough, and borderline unfair putting surfaces, may be more challenging than ever.

The first two major championships of this 2025 season have been undeniably entertaining, with Rory McIlroy finally getting the Masters monkey off his back to complete the career Grand Slam and Scottie Scheffler getting halfway to joining the club with a dominant win at the PGA Championship.

Naturally, Scheffler and McIlroy are two of the big favorites heading into the week, as is defending champion Bryson DeChambeau, who made his first major championship start as a professional when Oakmont last hosted the U.S. Open in 2016, tying for 15th.

Could one of these three become the 125th U.S. Open champion? Of course. But whoever comes out on top come Sunday evening will join this legendary list of winners at Oakmont (*-won in playoff):

  • 1927: Tommy Armour (+13/301)*
  • 1935: Sam Parks Jr. (+11/299)
  • 1953: Ben Hogan (-5/283)
  • 1962: Jack Nicklaus (-1/283)*
  • 1973: Johnny Miller (-5/279)
  • 1983: Larry Nelson (-4/280)
  • 1994: Ernie Els (-5/279)*
  • 2007: Angel Cabrera (+5/285)
  • 2016: Dustin Johnson (-4/276)

So, without further ado, let's have a look at the 156 players who will attempt to tame Oakmont in this 125th edition of the U.S. Open.
