Home to The Players Championship since 1982, the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass has long been viewed as one of the premier golf courses in the entire world.

The big draw, of course, is the famed par-3 17th, aptly known as the "Island Green," which is easily one of the most recognizable and iconic holes the sport has ever seen. But Pete Dye's design offers much more than just that one hole.

With the Atlantic Ocean only about a mile away, the course was carefully designed in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, so that no two consecutive holes play in the same direction, thus not allowing players to get overly comfortable if the wind picks up.

Furthermore, with a splendid mix of right and left doglegs and short, medium, and long par-3s, par-4, and par-5s, TPC Sawgrass doesn't favor a single style of play.

Perhaps the greatest feature of the Stadium Course, however, is that it's open to the general public. As many courses on the PGA Tour schedule are private, it's always a treat when the average Joe can tee it up at a venue where the best players on the planet vie for one of the biggest prizes in the game.

That said, though, it costs a pretty penny to play the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. In fact, it's the second-most expensive public course in the United States, behind only Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.

How much does it cost to play the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass?

From June through August, the cost for a single round on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass starts at $550, which includes the greens fee, cart fee, a forecaddie, and a bag of practice balls.

From September to May, however, the number starts at $750.

Again, though, those are just the starting figures, as Sawgrass uses dynamic pricing, meaning the total rises on certain days and time slots and can reach as high as $900.

If you're looking for a cheaper option, there is a second course on the property, Dye's Valley, which starts at $225 per player from June to August and $325 from May to September.

There are a number of vacation packages available as well, which include lodging at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa, meals, and rounds at the Stadium Course and/or Dye's Valley, depending on the option you choose.

These stay-and-play packages currently range from $1,022 to $2,244 per person.
