Blocky season is back, baby.

Michael Block, the club professional who took the golf world by storm a couple years back, has officially punched his ticket to the second major championship of the season, as the 48-year-old shot 4-under at the PGA Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida this week to lock up a spot at the 2025 PGA Championship.

The top 20 club professionals in the four-day tournament earned a spot to compete at Quail Hollow Club, and Block finished tied for third in the field of more than 300 players.

If you remember, Block rose to prominence at the 2023 PGA Championship when, out of nowhere, he tied for 15th and made a remarkable hole-in-one while playing alongside Rory McIlroy in the final round.

He beat PGA Tour stars such as Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and Hideki Matsuyama at Oak Hill Country Club that week.

Block remained in the spotlight for some time after the tournament, hopping on podcasts and snatching up every brand deal he could. Golf fans couldn't get enough of the humble club pro whose life changed overnight. That was, until he turned the public against him with some brazen comments about his game.

"Oh my God, what I would shoot from where Rory hits it would be stupid," Block told comedian Bob Menery in a 2023 interview, per Sports Illustrated. "I think I’d be one of the best players in the world. Hands down. If I had that stupid length? All day. My iron game, wedge game, around the greens, and my putting is world-class."

That didn't sit well with most golf fans, but Block's newfound fame was enough to score multiple sponsor's exemptions to PGA Tour events. The California native has played in seven PGA Tour tournaments since the 2023 PGA Championship, but also missed the cut in all seven.

Block returned to the PGA Championship in 2024 thanks to his T15 finish the previous year, missing the cut by eight strokes after shooting 76-73 in the first two rounds at Valhalla Golf Club. He had to play his way into the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, and that's exactly what he accomplished in Port St. Lucie this week.

Fire up the grills and call the neighbors, golf fans. The Block Party is back on for another year.
