The beloved family event, the PNC Championship, marks the final event on the 2024 golfing calendar before the PGA Tour's 'Opening Drive' kicks off the 2025 season next month in Hawaii. The big news ahead of this year's edition of the PNC Championship was that Tiger Woods, alongside son Charlie, would return to action roughly three months following his latest surgery. Woods was unable to participate in his Hero World Challenge event a couple of weeks ago but is set to make his return to the course this week.

Making their fifth consecutive start in the PNC Championship this year, Tiger and Charlie Woods finished T5 in last year's event at the fantastic Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Their best finish came back in 2021 when they finished runners-up to John Daly and his son, John Daly II. Team Woods has finished Top 8 or better in every start at the PNC Championship since 2020.

Including Tiger and Charlie, this year's PNC Championship boasts an elite 20-team field featuring last year's champions Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason Langer, Nelly Korda and her father, Petr Korda, John and John Daly II, Annika Sorenstam and her son, Will, and Steve Stricker and his daughter, Izzi, to name a few.

Can Tiger and Charlie Woods win their first PNC Championship together? Will Bernhard and Jason Langer successfully defend their title? Or will a team of new champions emerge in 2024? It's set to be another fantastic event so let's dive into all of the information to know ahead of this year's championship including this year's complete field, tee times, the PNC Championship format, how to watch this week's action from Orlando, and more.

PNC Championship format, purse, prize money

The PNC Championship is a 36-hole tournament beginning on Saturday, Dec. 22. Unlike the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup team events, and the standard stroke-play event on the PGA Tour, the PNC Championship employs a scramble format across both tournament rounds. Each player on each team will hit a tee shot before selecting the better shot among the two. Both players will then hit their next shot from there before selecting the best shot to hit from next. This process continues until the golf ball is holed.

The purse for the PNC Championship in 2024 is set at $1,085,000 with the victorious team at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club set to take home a winner's share of $200,000; around 18% of the overall prize purse. While other events on the golfing calendar have witnessed ever-changing purse amounts from year to year, the PNC Championship has consistently divvied out a substantial $1.085 million sum to its fields year after year.
