Matthieu Pavon is making his debut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He’s been on a tear in recent weeks, winning the Farmers Insurance Open and nearly double-dipping the next week with solo third at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Pavon was once again in contention throughout most of last week’s Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches. He fell off on the weekend, but still snagged T-28th to make it 5-for-5 finishing in the top 40 in 2024.

Not bad for the PGA Tour Rookie from France.

Pavon posted par or better all four rounds last week at PGA National. He was 19th in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (3.336) and gained strokes in all categories except for Around-the-Green.

The current FedEx Cup leader ranks first on the PGA Tour in SG: Total (2.622), second in SG: Approach (1.187), second in SG: Putting (1.238), and fifth in SG: Tee-to-Green (1.384).

His success in the U.S. has not come out of nowhere. Pavon had a great year on the DP World Tour in 2023, highlighted by a win at the Acciona Open de España Presented by Madrid and a T-5th finish at the DP World Tour Championship.

“I can't really explain it, it's just I think a combination of many things,” Pavon was transcribed by Tee Scripts at Pebble Beach, describing how he’s been playing so well. “Got better and better since I won my tournament back in Spain six months ago, then got my PGA TOUR card and now I come to America with some confidence and just confidence in me and my game. I think that's the key. If you want to play some good golf, you have to be confident. All you can do after that is like take a positive attitude and try to hit the best shot every time you show up.”
