6. OWGR: 18th. Best Masters finish: 1st (2015). Jordan Spieth. 2024Masters/PowerRank/6

I’m here to provide you a reminder that Jordan Spieth’s only won one green jacket. It seems like he ought to have a closet full.

Augusta National has been his playground over the years. It’s a venue that allows him to get a little squirrely off the tee, as he’s wont to do. However, he has the recovery shot for every scenario and is adept at playing the funky, sloping lies when he does find the fairway.

Spieth’s short game and putting are assets, as well.

It’s all culminated in nine of 10 cuts at the Masters highlighted by his win in 2015 (64-66-70-70) in his second start on property.

Spieth nearly won in his 2014 debut, taking T-2nd (69-68-74-69). He also took T-2nd (66-74-73-73) in his title defense in 2016.

The former Texas Longhorn owns seven top-11 finishes, including T-4th (69-70-76-66) last year.

“I think a lot of it, I've really fared well on the greens. Whether I've come in putting well or even in tough putting years, the ball seems to find the hole here, when I get on the putting surface,” Spieth was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2021. “I think a lot of that has to do with speed control. I think mid-range and even long-range putting and touch putting is more important here than it is just about anywhere else. I would say that over anything else has been the biggest strength over the years.”

Spieth was in typical showman fashion last week, hitting balls on roofs, standing on benches, etc. He was all over the place but contained the franticness enough to haul in T-10th.

It was just what the doctor ordered after a pair of missed cuts his last two starts.

The 30-year-old ranks eighth on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Total, indicating he’s not far off when he’s missing cuts. When he does play the weekend or is in a no-cut event, Spieth’s towards the top of the heap, even though he’s yet to win in 2024.

The putter has been a sore spot in recent years. That’s been solved this season as he’s 12th in SG: Putting (.673).

It expects to be a relatively dry week in Augusta. The firmer and faster the better, it would seem, for Spieth.
