2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Top 10 power rankings at TPC Louisiana
The brothers Fitzpatrick were tough to beat in four-ball last year at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. A pair of 62s would have been enough to get in contention, but alternate shot scores of 71-74 played a part in the Englishmen taking T-19th.
“...it's amazing to be able to spend time as a family. It really is. It's really, really special,” Matt Fitzpatrick was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2023. “The difficulty for mom and dad is both of us live over here in the states, and they're back in Sheffield. They make as many trips as possible to come see us, and the fact that we can play a tournament together makes it a helluva lot easier for them to see us both, and very exciting we get to be on the same team for once and not playing just singles golf.”
Matt is the headliner of this duo, but Alex is an up-and-coming pro in his own right.
Starting with Matt, he enters the week coming off T-28th at the RBC Heritage. It was his fourth straight top-30 finish and fifth in the last six weeks.
Matt’s Ryder Cup record leaves a little to the imagination at 1-7-0, but an 0-for in his 2018 debut at Hazeltine did most of the damage.
His stats this season on the PGA Tour aren’t up to snuff by his lofty standards, but he’s still gaining strokes in every category. Matt is 37th in SG: Total (.619) and 26th in SG: Putting (.443).
Younger brother, Alex, is a Wake Forest alum who is a steady player on the DP World Tour. He’ll be more rested having three weeks off since his last start at the Hero Indian Open.
Alex has four top-25s on the DP World Tour in 2024.
He’s been good from the bunker ranking fifth on that circuit in sand save percentage (68.63%). Alex has also putted well.
