The final major of the 2024 season is finally here as the British Open is set to tee off later this week at Royal Troon.

As you would expect at any major championship, the field for this week's Open is loaded. Countless winners of the Open are teeing it up again, and anyone who's anyone in the professional golf world is in Scotland this week.

That makes what I'm about to do so difficult because there are truly at least 30 guys who I could realistically see winning this week.

But with that, here are my top five picks to win the 152nd British Open at Royal Troon.

5 picks to win the 152nd British Open at Royal Troon

1. Scottie Scheffler

Whenever Scottie Scheffler tees it up, he has to be one of the favorites to win the tournament. His 2024 campaign has been the best we have ever seen since peak Tiger Woods, and another major championship this season could cement this season as the best of all time.

So far this season, Scheffler has six wins which all occurred before July, the first time that's ever occurred. Scheffler also won his second major of his career this year back in April at the Masters. His other five wins have all come at elevated events, so Scheffler isn't just winning, he's regularly beating the best players the game has to offer.

Scheffler has yet to win The Open in his career, but he has played relatively solid in his three career starts. This includes finishing 23rd, 21st, and 8th back in his Open debut in 2021.

As long as Scheffler's in the field, he will be a popular pick to win, and I for one would not be surprised to see him hoist the trophy on Sunday again this week.
