A lot of golfers spoke often when they played with Tiger Woods about what separated him from the pack was his competitive nature. There was no doubt when he competed, he wanted to win. Now, a player who is just as transcendent and popular also seems to have that same competitive nature. Basketball superstar Caitlin Clark recently competed in a golf event for charity but according to her teammates was overly competitive during the event.

Clark's WNBA team, the Indiana Fever hosted a local charity golf event called "the Fever FORE Change Fundraiser" a week ago. Despite being a friendly golf competition, Clark began raising the stakes.

Caitlin Clark had taken a tee shot but was bested by teammate Lexie Hull.

Soon Clark had to take another shot to beat her Fever teammate.

Fever players in attendance at the event jokingly were joshing Clark for her competitive side. "She just can't let me win," said Hull as Caitlin Clark took the driver from Hull's hand to take the second shot.

Clark does have golf skills and has displayed them before. She participated in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am in 2023 and finished the tournament with a score of 5-under par. Clark also can draw a crowd whether at a Pro-Am or a charity event for the Fever. During the charity event, one of Clark's fans had the rookie hold her baby and sign the onesie for the two-week-old.

Her teammates may have been joking around but they are more than happy with Clark's competitive side. She helped lead the worst team in the WNBA a year ago to playoff contention this season. At his peak on the PGA Tour, Tiger Woods became the central figure in what allowed the game of golf to grow into a global sensation. It seems Clark is following in his footsteps in all that she does.
