Genesis Invitational payout distribution 2024: Winner's Payout & Prize Earnings
The iconic Riviera Country Club never fails to put on a good show. This venue which is steeped in a rich history has to be near the top of the list of prestigious locales that any golfer would dream of winning at. This year, the famed site welcomed a plethora of the world's best players for the Genesis Invitational, amongst them, a certain Tiger Woods.
Tournament host, Woods, was making his first start this week since last year's Masters. Unfortunately, Tiger had to withdraw from the event during Friday's second round after reportedly coming down with flu-like symptoms.
While this understandably put a damper on proceedings, the Genesis Invitational rolled on into Saturday with the task of crowning this season's third signature event winner. Patrick Cantlay began the week at Riviera in style with an opening 7-under 64 on Thursday. The 31-year-old, who was in search of his first win on tour since the 2022 BMW Championship, fired a 65 during Friday's second round and took a commanding lead into the weekend.
Cantlay's significant advantage shrunk to two on Saturday, however, as the chasers closed the gap and capitalized on a solid but unspectacular showing from the Californian on moving day. Amongst them, good friend of Patrick's, Xander Schauffele.
Schauffele and Will Zalatoris found themselves two shots adrift of Cantlay's suddenly slim lead heading into the final round of this year's Genesis Invitational. Luke List, Jason Day, and Harris English were also within touching distance of the leader following the conclusion of the third round.
Unlike the previous two signature events before it in 2024, the Genesis Invitational trimmed its already limited field down to the top 50 players and ties at the halfway point at Riviera Country Club.
As a result, those who advanced to the weekend were guaranteed to walk away with a handsome payday. Let's take a look at exactly how much the players in this week's elite field were playing for this year, including the winner's share and payout distribution at Riviera CC.
Genesis Invitational: 2024 Prize purse and winner's share
As one of eight signature events on the PGA Tour this season, the Genesis Invitational purse is set at $20 million in 2024. The winner of the 2024 Genesis Invitational, Hideki Matsuyama, will take home $4 million in prize money; a massive 20% of this year's overall purse.
The $20 million overall purse is on par with what we have seen at the previous two signature events this season, and outside of the four major championships this year is only behind THE PLAYERS Championship in terms of largest prize purses tentatively set to be divvied out this season.
Here is a look at the complete prize earnings and payout distribution by position for the 2024 Genesis Invitational.

The PGA Tour returns to Mexico next week for the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidanta where defending champion, Tony Finau, will be looking for consecutive titles at Vidanta Vallarta.
