Genesis Scottish Open payout distribution 2024: Purse, winner's prize money
The Renaissance Club welcomed back some of the best players in the world to 'Golf Country' for the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open. Defending champion Rory McIlroy headlined an elite field stacked with some of the best players from both the PGA and DP World Tours in this co-sanctioned event, and all eyes were on the four-time major champion as he looked to bounce back from the heartache of the U.S. Open.
With plenty of support behind him in Scotland, the Northern Irishman showed no signs of rust as he strung together three terrific rounds in the 60s which once again had him in position to contend for the title on a Sunday. While plenty of eyes were on Rory McIlroy ahead of the year's final major at Royal Troon, Scotland's own, Robert MacIntyre, and Swedish sensation, Ludvig Aberg, battled the elements on Moving Day at this year's Genesis Scottish Open and were both well-positioned to make a run at the title going into the final round at The Renaissance Club.
After opening this year's Genesis Scottish Open with consecutive rounds of 64, Aberg held the 54-hole lead on Scotland's 'Golf Coast' following a 5-under 65 in the third round. In search of his second win on both the PGA and DP World Tours after wins at the Omega European Masters and the RSM Classic in 2023 respectively, Ludvig would attempt to hold off Scotland's Robert MacIntyre and a host of other big names who would be looking to capitalize on any slip-ups by the leader in the final round.
Whether it was Ludvig Aberg, MacIntyre, McIlroy, or any of the other names in hot pursuit, whoever emerged triumphant at this year's Genesis Scottish Open would come away with a substantial winner's share of this year's prize purse. How much was on the line this year in Scotland, though? Let's take a look at the total purse, winner's prize money, and complete payout distribution breakdown for the Genesis Scottish Open in 2024.
Genesis Scottish Open purse 2024: Total purse and winner's prize money
The purse for this year's Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club is set at $9 million with this year's champion set to walk away with a handsome $1.58 million winner's share in 2024. After seeing an increase of $1 million last year from the purse in 2022, this year's edition will maintain a total purse of $9 million. However, while the total purse remains the same for the second year running, this year's champion in Scotland will see a slight increase in prize money after Rory McIlroy took home $1.57 million after claiming the trophy in dramatic fashion in 2023.

With a purse of $9 million for the second year in a row, the Genesis Scottish Open comes in on the lower end amongst total purses for 2024, alongside events like the Farmers Insurance Open in January and February's Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches. Still, the Top 22 finishers at The Renaissance Club will come away from this year's event with a six-figure payday, while the Top 3 at this year's Genesis Scottish Open will take home over $500k in prize money.
In addition to the substantial prize money and FedEx Cup points on the line at this year's Genesis Scottish Open, three spots at the year's final major were up for grabs with the Top 3 finishers at The Renaissance Club who were not previously exempt already securing their spots in the 152nd Open at Royal Troon.
Attention turns towards the final major of the year next week as Royal Troon hosts the 152nd Open Championship.
