In case you missed the news, Keegan Bradley was announced as the 2025 US Ryder Cup team captain last week. There was rampant speculation about who the selection would be, but Bradley was not a name I saw anyone throw out there. But he is the selection, and I personally have no problems with it at all.

Bradley has since spoken with the media and provided some exciting information on how his selection came about and how he intends on attacking this position in the coming year. But one group of people we didn't hear from right away were his peers, the guys Bradley could be selecting in about a year to be on his team.

But as the day went on, more and more players began speaking up, and it sounds like they are all extremely excited and happy with this selection.

Here are some of those quotes from the top golfers in the world after they heard the news of Bradley being selected as Ryder Cup team captain for 2025.

Players react to Keegan Bradley Ryder Cup Captaincy

"Just look at the passion he plays with week in and week out, let alone in Ryder Cups and big moments, he’s a guy everybody can get behind."

Jordan Spieth

"I was surprised because I feel like it was such a different direction we’ve gone in the past. I’m definitely not mad about it."

Rickie Fowler

"I don’t think anyone can doubt his passion or his intensity and fire, which I think as a player I want a captain I’m going to battle for,” Justin Thomas said. “I want to feel like they are going to want it as bad as I do. I know Keegan’s intensity and he’s going to want it."

Justin Thomas

"Knowing Keegan and how good of a job he's going to want to do, he's going to love doing the press and talking about the tournament and the Cup and proud to be an American, all those things. It's going to be really interesting and fun to see."

Xander Schauffele

"I'm very excited for Keegan. He's passionate, willing to support his teammates, and one of the most eager players on recent US Ryder Cup teams. I can't wait to watch him lead in New York."

Davis Love III

"I love Keegan, he’s high-energy, he’s very kind, I feel like he’s very thoughtful and I think he cares quite a bit about the Ryder Cup as well, so the passion will be there."

Max Homa

And potentially the most surprising reaction of all was from someone I didn't expect to comment; Phil Mickelson.

"I was surprised at the pick and I think it was a great pick the more I think about it. His passion for the Ryder Cup is greater than just about any other player I've ever seen. I think he's going to lead with that type of passion, I think he's incredible."

Phil Mickelson

So while Bradley being selected for this position seemed to come out of nowhere (because it really did) according to all of his peers it sounds like he was a really good selection.

Sure, Tiger Woods was the top choice, but there's not much you can do when he turns it down. So Bradley may have just been the next best option, and what a great story this is after he was arguably left off the 2023 Ryder Cup team unfairly.
