Google Cloud and the PMY Group have recently unveiled a transformative, multi-year partnership aimed at reshaping fan experiences through the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI).

The collaboration will involve Google Cloud serving as PMY's technology partner for various major sports and lifestyle brands, including an extensive agreement with LIV Golf.

The partnership's initial project will focus on LIV Golf, introducing advancements in fan engagement, real-time data and statistics streaming, course and event mapping, and customizable experiences for both on-site and remote spectators.

Leveraging PMY's expertise in infrastructure transformation, fan experience enhancement, and data intelligence, combined with Google’s innovative generative AI technologies, the collaboration seeks to elevate the fan experience in golf.

A standout feature emerging from this partnership is LIV's "Any Shot, Any Time," set to debut in the summer of 2024 on LIV Golf Plus. This feature, built upon Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform, promises a highly innovative live broadcast experience.

Fans will have the unprecedented ability to choose specific golfers, teams, or groups to watch at any given moment, alongside searchable and customizable on-demand highlight reels from any round of LIV tournaments.

Matt Renner, President of Google Cloud, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “As the technology partner of choice for LIV and other PMY clients, we are thrilled to help them create more engaging fan experiences with our leading generative AI tools and cloud platform.”

LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO, Greg Norman, emphasized the revolutionary impact this partnership will have on golf, stating, “Working with Google Cloud and other world-class partners, our advanced approach to technology and innovation will revolutionize golf as we bring the sport into the future.”

Players, like Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau, echo the sentiment, recognizing the potential for a modernized approach to technology in golf. DeChambeau expressed enthusiasm, stating, “With Google Cloud, the impossible becomes reality.”

Aside from the "Any Shot, Any Time" feature, LIV's Golf Companion App—powered by Google Cloud's AI technologies—will provide fans with an unparalleled exploration of golf events. Set to launch in the summer of 2024, the app includes 3D aerial overviews of venues, real-time statistics, virtual caddy views, and customized competition recaps.

As the partnership unfolds, Google Cloud continues its legacy of collaboration with leading sports and entertainment brands, having previously worked with Major League Baseball, SoFi Stadium, the Football Association of England, and others.
