This past Saturday, retired golfer and former superstar, Michelle Wie West attended the WNBA game against the New York Liberty and Indiana Fever.

It was the third game of superstar rookie Caitlin Clark. Wie West was there to support Clark and the recent popularity of women's sports.

Before the game, Clark met with Wie West and tennis legend Billie Jean King in the tunnel of Barclays Center. Both King and West pushed the rise and promotion of their respective sports during their prime. Wie West commented on her Instagram about the sold-out crowd at the arena.

Michelle Wie West is an LPGA Tour legend.

For Wie West, she was an icon for the LPGA Tour. She turned pro at the young age of 16 in 2005 and was showered with both publicity and endorsements. During her lengthy career, she won five LPGA tournaments, including the 2014 U.S. Women's Open.

During her career, she was signed to deals with both Nike and Sony worth $10 million per year. Recently, Nike signed Nelly Korda to a multi-year deal. She now has the biggest contract for an LPGA golfer since Wie West. Nike also signed both Clark and WNBA player Sabrina Ionescu to multi-year deals. Ionescu signed her deal a year ago for $24 million. Clark signed for $28 million after graduating from Iowa.

All three players owe a debt of gratitude to Wie West who paved the way for the popularity of women's sports and high-profile athletes to get endorsement deals and record-breaking attendance at their events. During the WNBA game that Wie West attended, the New York Liberty announced that they had earned more than $2 million in ticket revenue for the game at the Barclays Center; a WNBA record.
