Valspar Championship payout distribution 2024: Winner's payout, prize purse
The PGA Tour remained in Florida this week for the final event of this year's Florida Swing, the 2024 Valspar Championship.
The revered Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, welcomed a surprisingly strong field coming off of last week's 50th edition of THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
With the first major of the year on the near horizon, this year's field at the Valspar Championship had their sights set on continued preparations for the upcoming Masters along with the opportunity to earn their share of the handsome prize purse that was on offer at this season's Valspar Championship.
On moving day at this year's edition of the Valspar, 32-year-old Keith Mitchell established himself as the name to beat at the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round. Mitchell finished his third round with a flourish after birdieing two of his final three holes before holing out for an eagle on the last. He signed for an exceptional round of 5-under 66; continuing his stretch of excellent play to begin the season.
Mitchell, in search of his first win since the 2019 Honda Classic, would attempt to hold off a large contingent of contenders who would aim to chase him down during the final round. A handful of whom found themselves just a couple off the pace including, Seamus Power, Mackenzie Hughes, Peter Malnati, and Cameron Young, to name a few.
26-year-old Cameron Young carded a 3-under 68 on moving day to keep himself within touching distance of the lead entering this year's final round at the Valspar Championship. Young would attempt to earn his first victory on the PGA Tour after a handful of close calls and several excellent showings in majors the past couple of years.
It was all set up perfectly for an exciting final round with numerous fascinating storylines in play, but who would claim this year's title and how big of a purse was this year's field at the Valspar Championship competing for? Let's take a look at the substantial figures that were on offer at this year's championship, including the winner's payout at Innisbrook.
The Valspar Championship: 2024 Prize purse and winner's share
The Valspar Championship prize purse for 2024 is set at $8.4 million with the winner of this year's edition at the Copperhead Course set to take home the handsome $1.512 million winner's share; a little under 20% of the overall purse for 2024.
As a non-signature event, this year's purse for the Valspar Championship is about on par with what was handed out at this season's The American Express and Sony Open in Hawaii, and a little more than the prize purse and payout distribution at the Mexico Open at Vidanta last month.
While the purse for this year's Valspar Championship may pale in comparison to some of the larger purses dished out this season, it is still a substantial sum with this year's champion earning a handsome winner's share, valuable FedEx Cup points, entry into the remaining signature events (if not previously exempt already), and everything else that comes with winning an event on the PGA Tour.
Here is a look at the complete payout distribution by finishing position for this year's Valspar Championship.
