Wells Fargo Championship 2024, tee times, field, format, purse, how to watch
The PGA Tour returns to the hallowed grounds of Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, this week for the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
Anticipation is building ahead of the year's second major next week at Valhalla, but first, there is the small matter of another signature event to be played. A large portion of the best on the PGA Tour has made the journey to North Carolina this week for the season's sixth signature event.
Of course, one of the big storylines this week is the absence of World No.1 Scottie Scheffler who will have to wait a bit for the opportunity to claim an incredible fifth win in his last six starts. The RBC Heritage and Masters champ is expecting the birth of his first child any time now and is understandably putting his remarkable run on pause for now.
With no Scheffler, recent Zurich Classic of New Orleans winner Rory McIlroy and last year's Wells Fargo Champion, Wyndham Clark, headline the elite 69-man field this week at Quail Hollow Club. The Wells Fargo Championship marks a terrific stretch of golf coming up for golf fans over the next month and a bit, so let's get right into everything to know about the season's sixth signature event including the tee times, format, purse, and more.

Here is a look at the field for this year's Wells Fargo Championship which includes seven of the world's Top 10 OWGR-ranked players.
Aside from Scheffler, who wasn't in the initial field release, the other notable absence is Masters runner-up and World No.6, Ludvig Aberg, who withdrew from the event earlier in the week due to a knee issue.
Wells Fargo Championship purse, prize money for 2024
The purse for the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship is set at $20 million with the champion at Quail Hollow this week receiving a handsome $3.6 million winner's share; 18% of the overall prize purse in North Carolina. The massive $20 million prize payout is on par with what we have seen in every signature event on the PGA Tour this season and matches last year's Wells Fargo Championship purse which also saw winner, Wyndham Clark, take home an eye-opening $3.6 million prize.
An elite event includes not only a handsome prize purse but also an increase in the FedEx Cup points awarded with this year's champion at Quail Hollow earning a precious 700 FedEx Cup points. This is up from the standard 500 points awarded in regular tour events.
Wells Fargo Championship format 2024: Is there a cut this week?
No. Unlike a couple of the signature events that have taken place already this season, the Wells Fargo Championship will not feature a cut at the halfway point with all 69 players in this year's field guaranteed all four rounds in North Carolina. While the Genesis Invitational and Arnold Palmer Invitational, both signature events this season, had a cut after 36 holes of action, the Wells Fargo Championship follows the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and recent RBC Heritage as signature events with no cuts.
