So far so good for Hannah Green at BMW Ladies Championship
As the BMW Ladies Championship is currently on hold until Saturday morning, one player remains on top of the leaderboard. Australian-born Hannah Green currently is at 12-under par midway through the second round.
The tournament was suspended in Paju, South Korea, due to unplayable conditions. The conditions and time overseas it seems haven't fazed Green. She currently has played both rounds bogey-free and has 12 birdies for the tournament. She can only hope to continue the hot start if she wants to win for the first time on tour since April of this season.
Hannah Green leads the BMW Ladies Championship
Green currently is two strokes ahead of South African Ashleigh Buhai who sits at 10-under par and four strokes ahead of New Zealander Lydia Ko who is at 8-under par.
The only American-born player in the top 10 currently is Ryann O'Toole who is at 7-under par between the two rounds. Nelly Korda had to withdraw from the tournament due to a neck injury.
The 27-year-old Green has one major victory under her belt. She took the Women's PGA Championship in 2019. This weekend she is currently looking for her sixth win of her career. Her last one came at the JM Eagle LA Championship where she won for the second straight year in Los Angeles.
For her part this season she has two victories, four top 10s, and is currently ranked eighth in the CME Globe points standings. She is third on tour for her putts per GIR (greens in regulation) averaging 1.76. She shot a 64 during the first round of the current tournament and it was her 14th round shooting in the 60s this season.
Hannah Green and the rest of the field will return to play Saturday morning. The tournament was suspended due to heavy rain but the forecast in Paju seems to not be calling for rain for the rest of the tournament.
