It was a Sunday to forget for Tommy Fleetwood at the Travelers Championship, and not just because he blew another opportunity to snag his long-awaited first PGA Tour victory. By choking down the stretch and losing to Keegan Bradley, the Englishman watched nearly $2 million vanish from his paycheck.
Fleetwood entered the final round at TPC River Highlands with a three-stroke lead over Bradley and Russell Henley. And with only one other player within five shots of the lead heading into Sunday, if there was ever a week for Fleetwood to finally break through and win on the PGA Tour, it was this one.
Instead, the 34-year-old came out of the gates slow with three bogeys in his first four holes. He steadied the ship with six straight pars, and birdies at 11 and 13 gave him a multi-shot lead, but it didn't last long.
After missing a short birdie putt on the par-4 14th hole, Fleetwood parred the short par-4 15th and made a sloppy bogey on the par-3 16th. He walked to the 18th tee box with a nervy, one-shot lead over Bradley.
After both players hit the fairway, Fleetwood went first and came up one club short, leaving himself a 50-foot putt from off the green.
Bradley, who has more experience closing out tournaments as an eight-time PGA Tour winner and major champion, stuck his approach to five feet.
Fleetwood was still in a good position to at least force a playoff, but he left his lag putt six feet short and pushed his par attempt right of the hole to record a demoralizing bogey on the 72nd hole. Bradley promptly buried his birdie attempt to steal the trophy from Fleetwood's hands.
Fleetwood would've banked $3.6 million with a win at the Travelers Championship, the final Signature Event on the 2025 schedule. His choke job down the stretch dropped him to T2, giving him a payday of $1.76 million. That's $1.84 million gone in the blink of an eye.
Tommy Fleetwood: 42nd top-10 finish on PGA Tour; most by any player without a win last 40 years

It's safe to say Fleetwood will be more distraught over blowing another opportunity to finally stand in the PGA Tour winner's circle. The veteran now has 159 starts, 42 top-10 finishes, and 28 top-5s without a single victory. No player in the PGA Tour's modern era has more top-10 finishes without a win.
Fleetwood's inability to win in the United States is confounding. This is a player who's won seven times on the DP World Tour and once on the Challenge Tour. Just last year, Fleetwood outdueled Rory McIlroy to win the Dubai Invitational. He clearly has it in him to be a Sunday closer, but the scar tissue from coming so close dozens of times on the PGA Tour has been too much to overcome.
