Following a blistering 5-under 65 on Friday, Sam Burns held a one-shot advantage over first-round leader J.J. Spaun at the midway point of the 2025 U.S. Open.

And after being one of just 12 players in red figures at Oakmont Country Club on Saturday, posting a 1-under 69, the 28-year-old will take that same one-shot advantage into Sunday's final round.

He lost his lead early in the third round with a bogey at the second hole but went 2-under the rest of the way, carding birdies on Nos. 5, 13, and 17, his only other dropped shot coming at the par-3 16th. At 4-under for the championship, Burns will enter the final 18 holes as the betting favorite at +170.

Spaun remains one back at 3-under after matching Burns' 69 but currently owns the third-shortest odds at +350. He also won't be joining Burns in the final pairing in Round 4, as that honor belongs to Adam Scott, who overcame an opening bogey to card a 67, thus putting him in a tie for second with Spaun at 3-under.

With a win at Oakmont, the 44-year-old would become the second-oldest U.S. Open winner in history, trailing only Hale Irwin, who was 45 years and 15 days old when he won the 1990 edition at Medinah. Scott will head to the final round with +350 odds to win.

Sitting in solo fourth place at 1-under and holding the fourth-shortest odds at +650 is Viktor Hovland, who bogeyed two of his first three holes on Saturday but fought back to post an even-par 70.

LIV Golf's Carlos Ortiz, who sits in solo fifth at even and is looking to become the first Mexican-born player to win America's national championship, rounds out the top five at +2000.
