Tee times and groupings are set for the first two rounds of the Quicken Loans National, which will be contested this year at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.
The Quicken Loans National, the annual PGA TOUR event to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation, makes its way to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm this week, marking the first time the course has hosted a TOUR event since 2006. TPC Potomac joins Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, which hosted the event a season ago, and Congressional Country Club, who has hosted the event seven times since its inception in 2007, as the third course to host the Quicken Loans National in three years.
The Quicken Loans National is just one of a handful of events on the PGA TOUR schedule to be given invitational status, joining the Memorial, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the RBC Heritage and the Dean & DeLuca Invitational, meaning that the field is just 120 players this week as opposed to a normal full field of 156.
World No. 9 Rickie Fowler is the top-ranked player in the field this week and he’ll be joined from the top 20 in the Official World Golf Ranking by No. 12 Justin Thomas and No. 17 Patrick Reed, both of whom are coming off great showings at the U.S. Open at Erin Hills. Also in the field this week is PLAYERS champion Si Woo Kim and defending Quicken Loans National champion Billy Hurley III, who won last year’s event by three strokes.
