With the PGA Tour taking the week off the full spotlight is on the ladies as they will be participating in their fifth and final major of the year.

That is weird to say, but the Evian Championship was recently promoted as a major championship back in 2013. As you might expect, that led to a lot of debate and controversy.

Major or no major, this has always been a big tournament on Tour. Players such as Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb, Paula Creamer, Juli Inkster, and Inbee Park have won in the past.

With the Evian Championship being promoted as a major and with Park winning the Women’s British Open, one of the hot topics was: Does Park have the career grand slam? Or does she have to win this tournament again now that it is technically considered a major?

To me, I would say she does. Even if she hadn’t been a winner at this event, she won the four tournaments that were dubbed majors, thus she has the career grand slam. But, there are those that would say she needs to win this event to, technically, be called a career grand slam champion.

On and on it goes, but, really, who knows or really even cares at this point? The rules change every other year there isn’t much integrity left anymore.

More from Ladies European Tour

Over on the PGA Tour you have THE PLAYERS which is dubbed the unofficial fifth major, which is fine to say, but let’s keep in mind it isn’t a major. Big event, but not a major. The BMW PGA Championship is a big event on the European Tour, but not a major.

That’s the way the Evian Championship should be as well but, hey, I’m not the one making the rules.

Anyway, we got a bit sidetracked there. The spotlight is on the ladies this week and, as you would expect, the Golf Channel has included the Evian Championship as a part of their fantasy game this week.

As we typically do, we’ll go over the groups, analyze some players and make some picks. So, with that here are our Evian Championship Golf Channel fantasy picks.
