DLIII held off a charging field in Greensboro, North Carolina to win the Wyndham Championship. At 51, Love became the third oldest winner in PGA TOUR history.
This happened to be Tiger Woods’ best tournament in quite some time, but unfortunately he couldn’t hold off the old man.
It was the third time Davis Love III won the Wyndham Championship and it allowed him to sneak into the FedEx Cup Playoffs for the year. Even more impressive was his final round 64 to hold off Jason Gore by one stroke.
Love’s win was refreshing for golf fans everywhere. In a year that was dominated by 20-somethings, DLIII reminded us why we love the game. Any give weekend, anything can happen.
