Marc Leishman: What Was in His Bag When He Won the Arnold Palmer Invitational?
Marc Leishman was carrying a bag filled with Callaway sticks when he won the 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Marc Leishman put the sprinkles on the top of the 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational cupcake Sunday afternoon. He won The King’s event much like Arnie might have, with a come-from-behind, back nine charge and a laser-sharp putter.
Leishman started his Sunday round trailing Kevin Kisner and Charley Hoffman by 3 shots. But like Arnold Palmer, Marc Leishman knows how to turn up the heat when it matters most. He did just that with a 51 foot eagle putt on the 16th hole.
Even if you were watching it roll straight and true the first time, it’s the kind of putt that’s worth looking at again.
That eagle putt was the icing. The sprinkles came with Leishman’s par saves on the 17th and 18th holes.

We’ve all found the sand and we’ve all gone wild off the tee. The Aussie who seemed to be channeling Palmer Sunday afternoon showed grace under fire as he recovered and put himself back on track not once, but twice.
Both the 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational and Marc Leishman’s win honored The King and celebrated his legacy.
Leishman went into the 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational ranking 2nd on the Tour in SG: putting. Then he outdid himself at Bay Hill, posting a breathtaking 4.202 SG: putting in the Sunday round.
