Wells Fargo Championship: Top 5 DraftKings picks
By Sam Belden
Jon Rahm — $11,000
Because of his lack of experience at most PGA Tour venues, Rahm has been a risk-reward option on multiple occasions this season. That won’t be the case this week — with the Wells Fargo Championship’s one-year move to Eagle Point, everyone’s going to be on an even playing field, so you shouldn’t be afraid to splurge on this exciting young gun.
With five top 10 finishes in his last seven starts, including a trio of podium finishes, Rahm has been one of the most consistent players on the circuit this year. He didn’t play his best in his most recent event, the Masters, but you can chalk that up to an unfortunate combination of fatigue and unfamiliarity with Augusta National. He’s been hitting it immaculately at most of the standard stops, and the results have been apparent — he won at the Farmers Insurance Open back in January, and he’s risen all the way to 13th in the world ranking. Rahm also ranks second on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green, so he’s a statistical dominator to boot.
Oddly enough, Rahm’s greenness may turn out to be a plus this week — he’s had to figure out a new course in almost every one of his starts this year, so he’s used to it. At $11,000 in DraftKings, he’s pricey, but worth it.
