Volvik Championship fantasy golf top four picks
Karrie Webb: Rolex Rank – 83, Race to the CME Globe – 132
Now the going starts to get tough. Do we go with a safe pick – one of the Tour veterans who can be depended on to deliver 72 holes of credible golf without much drama, like Catriona Matthew or Karrie Webb or maybe even Paula Creamer or Morgan Pressel?

Or do we look to one of the streakier players in Group 3 – Ryann O’Toole, Mel Reid, Christine Kim, for example, players who have exciting flashes of excellence and devastating moments of disappointing play. These are riskier choices that certainly have a bigger payoff if they work.
Nicole Broch Larsen, Madelene Sagstrom, and Emily Pedersen are all players I’m following closely this season. They’re all worth a look.
I was encouraged by her T7 finish at the Kingsmill but don’t think Sagstrom has found her rhythm just yet so I’m going to let her show me a few more rounds like those she delivered on the River Course before I put her on my team. Broch Larsen has only made three Tour starts this season but she’s also made three cuts. The Volvik is Pedersen’s LPGA pro debut, although she’s an experienced and successful competitor on the Ladies European Tour.
That said, I’m going the safe conservative route with this group and tapping Hall of Famer Karrie Webb. With something like 57 worldwide wins on her resume including multiple major championship titles, the Aussie is playing for the love of the game at this point in her career. I know she’s coming to the tee with a string of missed cuts behind her, but I also know Karrie Webb has game.
It’s a sentimental pick, but I’m betting Webb is going to enjoy putting it to work this week.
