Tee times and groupings for the first two rounds of the Travelers Championship are set.
The Travelers Championship returns to its usual spot on the PGA TOUR schedule following last year’s move to August for the Rio Olympics and boasts a dynamic field the week following the U.S. Open.
Formerly known as the Greater Hartford Open, the Travelers Championship welcomes three of the top six players in the world this week as Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Jordan Spieth are set to tee it up as part of the 156-player field. Day and McIlroy will be looking for redemption after missing the cut at Erin Hills while Spieth will be looking to carry the momentum from his final-round 69 at the U.S. Open over to TPC River Highlands, which has hosted this event since 1991. Technically, the course has hosted since 1984 when it was called TPC of Connecticut but a redesign of the front nine changed the course dramatically so we’ll stick with 1991.
Also in the field this week is defending champion Russell Knox, who won last year’s event by one stroke over Jerry Kelly. With all due respect to Knox, the most memorable thing from last year’s Travelers Championship was Jim Furyk firing an unprecedented 12-under 58 in the final round to climb into a tie for fifth. Furyk is also in the field this week and will tee it up alongside McIlroy and U.S. Open co-runner-up Brian Harman.
As usual, players will tee off in groups of three on the 1st and 10th tees on Thursday and Friday. Here is the complete list of tee times for the first two rounds of the 2017 Travelers Championship. (All times Eastern.)
