Peter Uihlein: OWGR – 81, Odds to Win – 60/1

More from Fantasy Golf

Did you sit up and take notice when Peter Uihlein finished runner-up last week at the Open de France last week? His missed cut at the U.S. Open the preceding week didn’t seem nearly as significant when he came roaring back at Le Golf National.

Uihlein has been having quite a good year. He finished fifth at the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open in March, then recorded top-25s at the Shell Houston Open and the Memorial. The Open de France was his return to European Tour competition after three solid months teeing it up at PGA TOUR events.

Uihlein’s game is in solid form. He’s strong off the tee and while he can be a bit unpredictable inside 100 yards with his short irons, he has maintained good control of his flatstick. This will serve him well as he takes on the Portstewart track.

Although he’s not made much of a showing in his two previous Irish Open starts, Uihlein is a young player and, like Paul Dunne and Matt Fitzpatrick, his game is maturing.  For all three, past performance isn’t necessarily a good predictor of this week’s outcome.
