More from Fantasy Golf

Like Matt Fitzpatrick and Paul Dunne, Ben An is an incredibly promising young player who’s just getting started on his career. The 2009 U.S. Amateur champion hoisted his first European Tour trophy at the 2015 BMW PGA Championship.

The Scottish Open is An’s first European Tour start since the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship last January, where he finished T13. On the PGA TOUR, since then he’s recorded top-10s at the Wells Fargo and the Byron Nelson and, aside from a missed cut at the U.S. Open, recorded respectable if not spectacular finishes.

An could easily get torpedoed by the Dundonald Links greens – putting is the weakest element in his game – but he’ll gain strokes off the tee and in his approach. An’s SG: Tee-to-Green (1.085) gives him a little bit of leeway on the putting surface.

The Scottish Open isn’t a regular stop on An’s schedule but Dundonald is a fresh experience for many in the field so I don’t see that as a particular disadvantage. If he can survive those fast, tricky greens Ben An could make a little history this week in Scotland.
