More from Pro Golf Now

Don’t be deceived by Madelene Sagstrom’s rookie status on either the LPGA or in terms of Solheim Cup experience. She played standout golf for the LSU Tigers where she got plenty of team match play experience.

Sagstrom went straight to the Symetra Tour from LSU and took it by storm, finishing inside the top-5 in her first 5 starts last year. She became the first player in Symetra Tour history to crack first $100K and then $150K and walked away with Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year awards and an LPGA card.

While she’s missed a number of cuts at her 2017 LPGA starts, Sagstrom has been balancing LPGA and LET requirements this year and she’s managed to record two top-10 finishes. Don’t discount her potential or her capacity to deliver a strong game of golf.

I’m eager to see what impact working with Sörenstam and playing with Team Europe will have on Sagstrom. I’m betting we’re going to see a more confident and decisive game of golf than she’s been delivering week after week during the grind of the stroke play season.
