The PGA Tour is back! They head to Colonial and the Charles Schwab Challenge, which means that another weekly event is back as well. The staff picks to win each stop on the Tour.

It’s been a while since the PGA Tour has played an event. As we approach the Charles Schwab, we are going to pick right back up with our staff picks for each event.

If you are new to the site, or maybe just need a refresher on what exactly this is, it’s pretty much how it sounds. Any of our staff that is interested in making a pick for the week can submit who they think is going to win. We have picked some winners during our time doing this, and have had some great weeks where we end up with three or four out of the top five.

Points allocations work the same as the FedEx Cup. You pick the winner, and you get 500 points. Second is 300, and so on and so forth as the FedEx Standings would allocate.

If you’re interested in the top choices for the event, you can head on over to our weekly Monday Power Rankings.

Let’s jump into it. Here are the staff picks for this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge.

Rory McIlroy

Mike Randleman – The next major is the PGA Championship in two months, so there’s no need for anyone to throttle it up too much this week. With that said, I think McIlroy is in a good position with plenty of time to study Colonial and will show up rejuvenated.

Justin Thomas

Chris O’Day – He’s stayed fairly active during the shutdown, from being a commentator to playing around with his buddies in odd challenges. JT is one of the top golfers in the world, and I think that coming back from a layoff, those that are more talented and consistent are going to shine, which is why I feel Thomas will play well at Colonial.

Jon Rahm

Tim Letcher – The Spaniard has played in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club three times and he has two top-five finishes. This will be the year that Rahm finally conquers Colonial and takes home the title.

Louis Oosthuizen

Kasey Kuhrts – In a week where you really have no idea what to expect, why not pick Louis? The last time we saw Oosthuizen in this event it was called the Fort Worth Invitational, and that name only lasted one year in 2018, before changing to the Charles Schwab Challenge. In that event, Louis finished T5.

Webb Simpson

Hans Geevers – The 2012 United States Open winner has played very well at Colonial Country Club in the past. I fully expect that Simpson will do so again this week.

Kathy Bissell

Bill Felber – To the extent there’s any science to this, I want somebody this week who’s basically unflappable. The name that jumps off the page to me is Webb Simpson. He may be perfect for this sort of situation.

Let us know what you think. Whether you disagree with a choice, think there was someone that we forgot, or that we got it nailed, we love to hear from you. Best of luck to everyone this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial.
