Fantasy Golf: Sleeper DraftKings Selections for 2020 Masters
By Kasey Kuhrts
Last week Carlos Ortiz captured his first PGA Tour victory, and he became the first Mexican born player to win a PGA Tour event. Although I took last week off from my fantasy golf sleeper selections article, I wouldn’t miss Masters week for anything.
As always, check out Hans Geevers’ full-lineup picks that he posts each and every week. Hans’ article is also great for reading about the course, and how he believes it will play. You will find one of his Masters selections on my sleeper list as well.
And of course, as always in my articles, I am only looking at players under the average DraftKings salary of $8,333. Finding value is the most important thing when selecting your lineup, so I hope to bring you some solid options.
Along with the key stats Hans will be looking at, I will be focusing on strokes gained on approach, greens in regulation, strokes gained around the green, strokes gained off the tee, par 5 scoring, and par 4 efficiencies from 450-500 yards. Here are my selections:

Louis Oosthuizen $7,900
This week I have three 7K selections because I believe the bottom of the 8K range is weak. The first is Louis Oosthuizen. Oosthuizen is off to a fast start in the new season, finishing third in the U.S. Open and tied 19th in the Shriners.
So far this season, Louis sits tied 42nd in par 5 scoring average, tied 51st in strokes gained around the green, 71st in par four efficiency 450-500 yards, and 87th in strokes gained on approach.
Oosthuizen has played in every Masters since 2009 and hasn’t missed the cut in Augusta since 2013. Especially with how well he is playing in the new season, I don’t think Louis misses the cut this week.
Justin Rose $7,700
I know what you are thinking, Justin Rose hasn’t been very good since the return back in June, and that is correct. He’s had his moments, but he’s been more bad than good. However, his last time out at the ZOZO Championship he finished tied for 17th.
He also has fantastic course history at Augusta. Rose has made 13 out of 14 cuts at the Masters with two second-place finishes in 2015 and 2017.
Cameron Smith $7,300
My final 7K selection of the week is Cameron Smith. Cam has his game in form, making all four of his cuts so far in the new season. In his last two starts, Smith finished 11th at the CJ Cup and T4 at the ZOZO Championship.
So far in the new season, Smith sits 3rd in par 5 scoring average, tied 60th in par 4 efficiency 450-500 yards, 79th in strokes gained on approach, and tied for 94th in strokes gained around the green.
Cam will be starting in the fourth Masters of his career. His best finish was in 2018 when he finished in 5th. Although his other two finishes weren’t great, he’s never missed the cut at Augusta.
Zach Johnson $6,800
My first 6K selection of the week is 2007 Masters Champion, Zach Johnson. Zach has been playing really good golf since August. He’s made the cut in all six events he’s played, highlighted by a T7 finish at the Wyndham Championship and T8 at the U.S. Open.
So far on the season, Zach sits tied 16th in greens in regulation, hitting over 73% of greens so far this season. Johnson also sits 41st in strokes gained on approach this season.
Johnson has started in every Masters since 2005, including winning the green jacket in 2007. Johnson has made his last two cuts at Augusta, and finished in 9th in 2015, his best finish since his victory.
Nate Lashley $6,200
My final selection of the week is Nate Lashley. Lashley is coming off back-to-back made cuts, and three of his last four. His best finish in that run was fourth at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
Lashley currently sits 22nd in strokes gained around the green, tied 29th in par four efficiency 450-500 yards, and tied 65th in greens in regulation.
One thing to be aware of, Lashley is a hit-or-miss golfer. It’s usually either really good or really bad. If you roster him, be prepared for really bad. However, I think his game fits well for Augusta, and I believe he makes the cut this week.
Well they there are, my sleeper and undervalued selections of the week. Hopefully, some of these players will make their way into your lineups, and win you some money!
