The FanSided 250 came out, and there was a glaring omission. The PGA Tour and not a single golf-related person were on the list.

Before I get into this too much, we do need to realize one thing. This is about fandom and a look at what people/teams/topics have the top fanbases over the 2020 year. That being said, FanSided 250 definitely snubbed the PGA Tour and golf in general.

There were plenty of candidates that you could’ve taken this year to be on the list, and from different walks of life as well. We start with the biggest one, and it’s someone who deserves to be on the list every single year.

There is no way that Tiger Woods shouldn’t be on the list. He is the biggest name in golf and has been since the mid to late 90s. He still has an enormous following and is responsible for every success that golf has had since he came into the game, including the top golfers that we see playing now.

Then we have a couple more top golfers that have both done a lot for the game and are seen as some of the top products that the PGA Tour has produced. Both Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau are polarizing figures in their own right and should have made it into the back end of the list.

There are other golfers as well that could lay claim to deserving to be in here, and one of them is the top golfer in the world. Dustin Johnson is coming off of a Masters win, a win at the FedEx Cup playoffs, and is married to the daughter of arguably the greatest hockey player of all time, Paulina Gretzky, Wayne Gretzky’s daughter. If we want to talk about fandoms, being married to Paulina definitely gets you up there.

Speaking of the outside fandom part of it, Paige Spirinac 100% deserves to be on this list. She has grown one of the largest followings in the golf world and is a darn good golfer in her own right. She posts golf help videos online, is an ambassador to multiple golf-related products, and hosts her own weekly golf podcast, Playing A Round.

There were tons of golfers and golf involved people that could’ve been chosen this year for the FanSided 250, some on the PGA Tour and some who are just centric to the world of golf. The snubs came hard to golf this year.
