Each week on the PGA Tour, there are players who fare better than expected and those who fall short of expectations. Here at Pro Golf Now, we call them winners and losers. Here are this week’s winners and losers from the WGC-Workday Championship.

Winners

Collin Morikawa – He’s already won a major and now he has won a World Golf Championship event. The young star continues to show that he is among the best players in the world and that he can play with anyone. The scary thing is, at just 24 years of age, he’s only going to get better.

Viktor Hovland – The Norwegian is just 23 years old, even younger than Morikawa, and he is also continuing to do amazing things. In a field of the world’s best players this week, Hovland finished in a tie for second.

Brooks Koepka – By finishing in a tie for second this week, Koepka proved that his win in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago was no fluke. He’s truly back and ready to contend in every event he enters. That should make for a fun major championship season.

Billy Horschel – Perhaps the biggest surprise of the week was Horschel, who finished in that tie for second place. It was no fluke, he was in contention all week long. With his finish, Horschel will jump 37 spots in the FedEx Cup standings.

Scottie Scheffler – The 2020 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year had a very good week and ended up in solo fifth this week. For Scheffler, it was his best finish so far this season and his second Top 10 in his last three starts.

Losers

Matthew Wolff – The talented young star had a dreadful round on Thursday, shooting an 83. He withdrew after the round which was probably the best thing for all involved. Wolff continues to have these terrible rounds every so often on tour, a habit he definitely needs to break.

Dustin Johnson – The world’s top-ranked player figured to be in the mix to win this week. Instead, he shot a 77 on Thursday and had to fight his way back into a respectable spot (42nd) with one round to play. But on Sunday, DJ shot a 78, his worst round since last July, and he finished well back in the pack.

Harris English – The 2020-21 season has been a good one for English so far, but this was not his week. He opened with a 78 and ended with an 80. What happened in between doesn’t even matter. English finished 66th out of 72 players this week.

Rasmus Hojgaard – He’s a 19-year-old sensation from Denmark, but Hojgaard was in over his head this week, especially on Sunday. He shot the worst round of the week, an 82, in the final round. It included Hojgaard making a 10 on a hole without a penalty stroke.

Hideki Matsuyama – He was tied for seventh heading into Sunday’s final round. He had a chance, with a big final round, to win. Instead, he went in the other direction, shooting a 74 to fall into a tie for 15th place.
