This week, the PGA Tour is heading to Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, for the RBC Heritage. This is a decent field, with DJ headlining it and Cantlay, Webb, and Morikawa to follow. In 2020, we saw guys like Ryan Palmer, J.T. Poston, and Michael Thompson come inside of the top 10. These are usually low 7K and high 6K players on DraftKings. These are the dark horses that you want to look for to come out on top in tournaments.

This week I will be providing three dark horses, meaning players that are longshots, but could play really well for their salary. These dark horses are players that are $7,500 and below. Also I only use DraftKings, so these prices will be for their website, but the players can be used on FanDuel as well.

Dark Horse Number 1

Michael Thompson: Thompson is one of my dark horses because he comes to life here. He has been playing solid for his respective price tag and I believe he is to cheap at a course where he came top 10 the past two years. He will be in most of my lineups this coming Thursday because I feel like I would be dumb not too. His driving has been really good lately and his putting is not to bad. If the flat stick can help him find some birdies each day, I think we are in for another great RBC Heritage finish for Thompson. He will have to get through a solid field that includes DJ, Cantlay, Webb and more, but some of those guys at the top could be worn down from the Masters. Michael played the Masters, but he was never in contention so I don’t feel like he will be as mentally drained like some will be.

Last Three Finishes Here: T8, T10, T42

Key Stats:

SG Approach – 113

Driving Accuracy % – 20

SG Putting – 87

Dark Horse Number 2

Adam Hadwin: Hadwin is another one of my dark horses this week because he has looked great recently when comparing it to his $7,100 price tag. Three top 30’s, a top 10, and a missed cut. He has played mediocre here the past two showings, which does worry me for the weekend. His weekend scoring has only been a couple under par each tournament for the past few events. Hopefully this week he finds a way to score better at a very scoreable course. Hadwin is one of the better plays this week in a slate where I cannot find a whole ton of value.

Last Five Finishes on Tour: T23 (Valero), T8 (Honda), T29 (PLAYERS), Cut (API), T26 (Genesis)

Dark Horse Number 3

Ben Martin: Ben Martin is the final player listed for my dark horses and is a huge punt play. This is in South Carolina and that is his home state. He hasn’t played it since 2018 where he finished T55. He played well at the Valero and at Corales which are below average fields. This field is better, but some are coming off of a long week after the Masters. He will be fresh and they might be a little tired. At $6,400, we just need a cut made. He can help you get multiple top-end players in your lineup. A good salary saver and someone you can try out in a couple of lineups.
