With The Masters just two weeks away, the PGA Tour is set for the first of two straight stops in the Lone Star State, with 20 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking set to tee it up at the 2025 edition of the Texas Children's Houston Open.
Headlining the 156-man field at Memorial Park this week are the top two players in the world, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
Scheffler, who has yet to record a victory in 2025 after notching nine wins a season ago, tied for second at this tournament last year, finishing one shot back of Stephan Jaeger, who's back to defend his title.
McIlroy, who has already won twice this season, taking victories at Pebble Beach and The Players Championship, is making his first appearance at this event since 2014 and seems to be just wanting to keep himself sharp before making yet another attempt at the career Grand Slam at Augusta.
The third-highest-ranked player in the field is Wyndham Clark, who is making his first start since withdrawing from The Players with a neck injury. The world No. 11 has played the Houston Open in each of the last four years, his highest finish being a tie for 16th in 2023.
Joining Scheffler, McIlroy, and Clark from the OWGR top 25 are Maverick McNealy (No. 16), Sahith Theegala (No. 22), Sungjae Im (No. 24), and Aaron Rai (No. 25).
