It goes without saying that every golf fan, whether a die-hard or casual fan, gets excited when the week of a major begins. That's where we find ourselves as The British Open is getting set to kick off later this week at Royal Troon in Scotland.

There are countless reasons to be excited about the Open, the oldest major, golf's birthplace, and the LIV guys joining the fun just to name a few. But there's an even bigger reason to be excited about the tournament this year.

Tiger Woods.

Woods has only played in the majors so far this season as well as one tune-up before the Masters, and by all accounts, it looks like this will be the last time we get to see him tee it up this season. So his presence alone is cause for celebration, and the social media world is already getting excited just seeing Woods practice on Monday at Royal Troon.

While it's exciting just to have Woods playing, I think we all hope he finds some success this week. Tiger Woods made history at the Masters by making his 24th consecutive cut, but he still only finished in 60th place, far from exciting if you ask me.

Then Woods went to the PGA Championship and US Open, where he missed the cut at both events. And in the one tune-up before the Masters, at the Genesis Invitational, he also missed the cut.

So while it's awesome just to see Tiger playing after the horrific accident he suffered, I think it's time to expect a good result out of him. We have yet to see that happen this year, and I more than anyone hope we get to see that in Scotland this week.

Can Tiger win this tournament? Probably not. But even a top-20 finish would send the golf world into a frenzy.

Sign me up for that.
