One of the most highly anticipated events of the year, at least for the fans, has arrived as the PGA Tour returns to TPC Scottsdale for the WM Phoenix Open. The People's Open has long been a staple on the schedule and has been hosting some of the best players in the history of the sport since it was first established back in 1932.

With one of the most raucous environments players will witness all year, the WM Phoenix Open is truly an event unlike any other. The event boasts an illustrious list of champions from Ben Hogan to Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, and Scottie Scheffler. Last year it was Canadian Nick Taylor who triumphed after a playoff against Charley Hoffman. Taylor returns to defend his title and will be joined by a strong field that includes the aforementioned Scottie Scheffler, a two-time winner of the Phoenix Open, Hideki Matsuyama, a two-time champion in his own right, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, and Tom Kim, to name a few.

Nick Taylor will look to become just the eleventh player in the history of the event to win on multiple occasions, while a win for World No.1 Scottie Scheffler would see the two-time major champion join Gene Littler, Arnold Palmer, Mark Calcavecchia, and Phil Mickelson as a three-time champion at the WM Phoenix Open. A party is about to go down in the desert so let's dive into all of the information to know ahead of the 2025 edition of The People's Open including tee times, the purse and prize money, how to watch all of the action from TPC Scottsdale, and more.

WM Phoenix Open tee times, field for 2025

Here is a look at the tee times and groupings for the first two rounds of this year's WM Phoenix Open on Thursday and Friday.

World No.1 and two-time champion of the Phoenix Open, Scottie Scheffler, will begin his quest to complete the hat trick of titles at The People's Open alongside the aforementioned Tom Kim and Max Homa at 2:44 p.m. ET on Thursday. Defending champion, Nick Taylor will begin his title defense on Thursday at 10:04 a.m. ET. Taylor will be joined by two-time champion Hideki Matsuyama, and Jordan Spieth, who will be making just his second start of the season following his season debut at last week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

A few other notable groupings and starting times include 2019 WM Phoenix Open champion Rickie Fowler, and playing partners Sahith Theegala and Billy Horschel getting underway at 2:55 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nick Dunlap/Justin Thomas/Luke Clanton at 9:53 a.m. ET, Thursday, Sepp Straka/Sam Burns/Sungjae Im at 10:15 a.m. ET, Thursday, and Matt McCarty/Akshay Bhatia/Wyndham Clark at 2:33 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Here is a look at the 132-man field for the 2025 WM Phoenix Open.

Since the initial field release, only Viktor Hovland and Matt Kuchar have withdrawn from the event, they were replaced by Paul Waring and Jesper Svensson, respectively. Steven Fisk, Will Chandler, and Max McGreevy were also added to this year's field after open qualifying.

WM Phoenix Open format, purse, prize money

Following the second signature event of the year last week at Pebble Beach and several multi-course events in recent weeks, the WM Phoenix Open sees a return to the norm. The 2025 WM Phoenix Open welcomes a field of 132 players for a 72-hole stroke play event contested exclusively at TPC Scottsdale. A cut to the top 65 players and ties will be made after 36 holes.

The purse for the 2025 WM Phoenix Open is set at $9.2 million with this year's winner at TPC Scottsdale set to take home a winner's share of $1.656 million. This is an increase from the $8.8 million prize purse at last year's event when Nick Taylor took home a $1.584 million prize after his playoff win over Charley Hoffman. In addition to an increased winner's share, the 2025 WM Phoenix Open champion will also receive 500 FedEx Cup points. Meanwhile, the second-place finisher is also set to take home a seven-figure prize of $1,002,800 with the third-place finisher earning a $634,800 payout.
