Portland Classic Preview and TV Schedule
After a week’s rest following the RICOH Women’s British Open, the LPGA Tour is back in action this week at the Cambia Portland Classic in Portland, Oregon, the longest-running non-major on the Tour’s calendar. Portland is the first of three stops — followed by the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open in Vancouver and the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic in Prattville, Alabama — before everybody packs up for their 2nd trip across the pond this summer, this time to France and the Tour’s final 2015 Major, the Evian Championship.

As I look over the field I’m wondering what kind of excitement is in store to match last year’s playoff between I.K. Kim and Austin Ernst. Even with Inbee Park still basking in the glow of her her Grand Slam achievement at Turnberry and with Michelle Wie trying to get healthy enough to play The Evian and The Solheim Cup, there’s a solid field getting ready to tee it up at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
The Columbia Edgewater is one of the best tracks in the Pacific Northwest and everybody’s going to enjoy playing golf in the temperate weather that’s promised — sunny skies, light winds, temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s, no rain in sight. Conditions look perfect for some double digit red number scores on Sunday!
Katie Burnett’s tweet says it all:
Golf Channel’s going to provide daily coverage: Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14, 5-8pm; and Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, 5-7pm. All times ET.
Although the field won’t be finalized until after Monday’s qualifying round, when Brooke Henderson will attempt to play her way into the Portland Classic, let’s take a look at who’s in the line-up at this point, beginning with five power players, then taking a look at the Americans and Europeans in their separate teams’ Solheim Cup points bubbles, and finally a look at some of the prowling rookies who just don’t let up.
