Exactly 11 weeks after the TGL kicked off its inaugural season at the incredible SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, the simulated league officially crowned its first champion as Atlanta Drive GC took a wild 4-3 comeback victory over New York Golf Club on Tuesday night to sweep the best-of-three series.
Coming off a 6-5 victory in the opening match on Monday night, the Atlanta trio of Billy Horschel, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay (Lucas Glover sat out for the second straight night) found themselves down 3-0 after Xander Schauffele opened the singles portion of the contest by defeating JT on the par-5 10th with a birdie.
But that was the last point Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and Cameron Young (Matt Fitzpatrick also sat out again) would get.
After chipping away at the lead over the next few holes, Atlanta was down just 3-2 heading into the par-3 14th hole, and that's where Billy Horschel took over.
With Horschel on the putting surface and Fowler in the bunker, Atlanta seized the opportunity to throw the team's final hammer, and Horschel took advantage, draining a winding 18-foot putt for birdie that gave his team a 4-3 lead and sent the crowd (and himself) into an absolute frenzy.

And that's how the night would end as Cantlay and Young halved the final hole, thus giving Atlanta the 2-0 sweep, the inaugural SoFi Cup, and a hefty payday.
Atlanta GC took the $9 million winner's share of the inaugural TGL season
In becoming the first-ever TGL champs, the four members of Atlanta Drive GC will split the $9 million winner's share of the $21 million total purse for this inaugural 2025 campaign.
Schauffele, Fowler, Young, and Fitzpatrick will share the $4.5 million second-plaze prize.
The other four places, of course, had already been decided.
While Los Angeles Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club lost their semifinal matches two weeks ago, LA took third place by winning more holes during their defeat.
The two teams to miss the postseason were Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links Golf Club, finishing fifth, and Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf, which came in dead last.
